Frequently Asked Questions
How do I sell items at auction?
Simply bring your items to our saleroom at Unit 22 Moderna Business Park, Mytholmroyd for a free valuation. Our experts will assess your items and, if suitable, we will agree a consignment. Items are then lotted, catalogued, and sold at our next available auction. We handle everything from photography to payment collection.
What commission do auction houses charge?
Whyte Auctioneers charges a seller's commission of 15% plus a £1 lotting fee per item. Buyers pay a premium of 20% on top of the hammer price. There are no hidden fees — our commission structure is transparent and competitive.
How do I bid online?
You can bid online through EasyLiveAuction. Register on their platform, find our upcoming auction, and place bids in real-time or leave absentee bids before the sale. A link to our current auction catalogue is always available on our website.
How long until sellers receive payment?
Sellers typically receive payment within 21 working days of the auction date. Payment is made by bank transfer. If a buyer defaults, we will actively pursue payment before adjusting the seller's account.
